    Good branding, though their Internet presence is hardly ready for prime time.

    Without knowing more about them I surmise that it’s yet another SEO outfit who will try and flood Google with keyword-stuffed articles posted on dubious back-link friendly websites. Another giveaway and a benchmark for me is the use of the word “slander” in the copy. Like too many people, they don’t seem to know the difference between slander and libel. And, like many of these firms, it’s highly doubtful they could explain anything about Section 230, or what is and is not fair use.

    Their domain is only a month old. Just because they say the word slander in their content doesn’t mean they don’t understand it’s definition. You must remember Nick, that they would be marketing to individuals who don’t understand the meaning of the word, and therefore would also like to attract the less informed victims as well. Do some research and you’ll see the words libel slander are searched for thousands of time per month, so I’m assuming if they know how to protect someone’s reputation, they know how to keyword market to the largest market of their niche. And that’s my two cents.

    Thanks for the explanation there, Jason. Your summation does make sense, in that being able to be found by the desired target audience is, of course, highly desirable for an unknown startup.

    What is also refreshing is to see how “they” have modified the site content to include definitions of libel. Was that because of me? I normally charge for this type of branding advice, you know. No matter, I like the entrepreneurial spirit.

    Oh, why did I say “they” in quotes? Because if you click on the Jason W. name the link goes to reputation-retriever.com. Quite a coincidence, wouldn’t you say?
